5 Things the United States Should Learn from China’s Social Credit System

Many American’s have a general consensus that the Chinese social credit system is not moral and can easily become a dystopia shown like Blackmirror or 1984. But maybe there are some things we can learn…

1. Reward people for doing good deeds!

As a virtuous and charitable member within your society, you should be rewarded such as discounted energy bills or get better travel deals!

2. You should be treated based on your worth. Not your parents!

Just because your parents are financially unstable does not necessarily mean you have to be too! The US credit system solely bases on being able to start building credit at the age of 18 (typically with the help of your parents).

3. Don’t let your ethnicity affect whether you can get larger loans!

If you are a minority in the United States, you are more likely to have a lower credit score even when factoring in the same income and financial status. 😦

4. Know the effects of giving away your personal information!

Many Americans give up their personal information to large companies such as Amazon, Facebook, Google, Uber, etc. simply for convenience. While getting that advertisement on the side of the website might give you a link to a cool or cute t-shirt, perhaps Chinese citizens giving up a little of their privacy for a more trustworthy society isn’t that bad!

5. Be a better citizen and member of your community.

With everyone trying to become a better person by raising their social credit score, not only would individuals benefit from certain perks, but the society as a whole can become a more morally just place!
